ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT

In 2004 Ed Hansen and Duane Francis founded the Herman Hansen Memorial Golf Tournament in memory of Ed’s father Herman Hansen, who was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2001 and then sadly passed away in August 2003.  It is our goal to raise money and awareness in support of the ongoing work of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.

The amount raised to date has been just under $80,000 and our goal is to raise even more this year with a vision to raise $100,000 to help find a cure for cancer.

JOINING US ON THE DAY

We are thrilled that /A\’s very own Kurt Stoodley will be joining us for the day! Kurt Stoodley can be seen daily on the /A\ Morning Show. An avid golf enthusiast and local celebrity Kurt will definitely add energy to our event. Originally from Botwood, Newfoundland, Kurt grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he received his education at Dalhousie University. Kurt has been in the media industry since the age of 16 when he got his first part time job at a local radio station. At the age of 21, he returned Newfoundland where he obtained his first full time job at CJYQ radio station in St. John’s. It was here that he made his transition to television with NTV. His career then took him back to Halifax where he became the weekend and sports anchor/reporter. His experience here guided him to a position as host of ASN’s Breakfast Television. His association with /A\ began in 1997 when Kurt hosted Live @ 5 in Calgary. Just three years later he found himself in Ottawa, once again involved in reporting on sports. In 2001, Kurt helped launch /A\ Morning, which has become Ottawa’s #1 Morning Show. Kurt loves to meet people and is interested and involved in his community. He supports various charities and we are delighted that he will be supporting us in our golf tournament on June 3rd.

During the day, we will have several opportunities to participate in different contests and draws where you could win many great prizes, including a chance at $30,000 for a Hole in One! Other events include:
